China Export Leading Index Up in November 2016

For November 2016, China’s Export Leading Index (ELI) reached 36.9, month-on-month (MOM) up by 1.3 from October. As revealed by an online questionnaire survey, China’s November Export Manager Index rose by 0.8 MOM to 40.0; New Export Order Index rose by 1.8 MOM to 41.3; Export Managers Confidence Index rose by 0.7 to 45.5; Export Enterprises Comprehensive Cost Index dropped by 1.9 to 25.5.
1. Up in Export Manager Indexes of all types of enterprises: For November, China’s large, medium and small enterprises made their Export Manager Indexes up MOM by 1.1, 0.2 and 1.1 to 41.8, 38.3 and 38.1 respectively.
2. More enterprises revealing year-on-year (YOY) rise in their new order value: Shown by the online survey for November, the enterprises revealing YOY rise in their new order value accounted for 26.4%, more by 1.5 percentage points than October; the enterprises revealing YOY fall in their new order value accounted for 45.3%, less by 2.5 percentage points than October; and those revealing no change therein accounted for 28.3%.
2. More enterprises optimistic about export in next 2-3 months: Shown by the online survey, the enterprises expressing “optimistic” accounted for 25.9%, more by 0.2 percentage point than October; those expressing “not optimistic” accounted for 36.9%, less by 1.1 percentage points than October.
4. More respondents revealing cost rise: Shown by the online survey, the enterprises revealing YOY rise in their export comprehensive cost accounted for 56.7%, more by 4.2 percentage points than October; those revealing YOY cost evenness accounted for 35.4%; and those revealing YOY cost fall accounted for 7.9%.
According to the survey in itemized costs for November, the enterprises revealing increase in labor cost accounted for 55.4%, more by 1 percentage point than October; those revealing increase in raw material cost accounted for 51.6%, more by 8.5 percentage points than October; those revealing increase in foreign exchange cost accounted for 37.3%, more by 2.6 percentage points than October.
